Global Financial Turmoil: Challenges and Opportunities for IsDB Member Countries
Summary
The keynote speech traced the evolution of the current crises, in terms of its genesis, policy responses and prospects. The impact of the crisis on IsDB countries had been varied reflecting the economic diversity of these countries. While most of these countries seemed to have escaped the direct impact of the crisis, many had experienced various secondary effects that presented significant challenges to policy makers and the local financial and business communities. Notwithstanding these difficulties, the crisis had also given rise to a number of opportunities.
