ADFIMI is deeply saddened by the demise of Dato’ Dr. Mahani Zainal Abidin, CEO Institute of Strategic and International Studies, Malaysia.

Obtained her PhD from the University of London in 1992 and was a Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at University of Malaysia till 2007.

She has served in many prestigious positions but she was more often remembered for her role in the formulation of New Economic Model and in the formulation of polices during in the 1998 economic crisis which Malaysia survived successfully.

She had lectured at ADFIMI’s 18th Annual CEO Seminar held in Jeddah in 2008 on this very subject. She also addressed ADFIMI – SME Bank Malaysia International Development Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, from 5-6 July 2012 on “Global Economy in Crisis – Challenges and Opportunities.
