The seminar proceeded according to the agenda in the flyer except that the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia could not attend the seminar.
The opening remarks on behalf of Komite Nasional Keuangan Syariah (KNKS) was delivered by Mr. Ventje Rahadjo Soedigno, Executive Director, KNKS, and the opening remarks on behalf of ADFIMI was delivered by Mr. Nuri Birtek, Secretary General.
There were two keynote speakers and seven speakers, mainly from development banks.
Professor Dr. Habib Ahmed Sharjah Chair in Islamic Law and Finance in the Business School Durham University delivered his keynote address on “Infrastructure Investments necessary to achieve SDGs and Paris Agreement in IsDB Member Countries” while Dr. Ronald Rulindo, Director of Islamic Finance Product Innovation, Financial Market Deepening and Infrastructure, KNKS, talked on “Innovation in Islamic Infrastructure Investment: Issues and Challenges”.
These were followed by seven speakers coming from practical backgrounds and seven countries (Bangladesh, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar, Sudan, Turkey) described their infrastructure finance experiences in their countries.
In the final session, Mr. Nazmul Haque, Director Investment and Head of Advisory, Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), Bangladesh conducted a panel comprising of the speakers of the previous sessions, where they commented on previous session’s presentations and on the future of infrastructure finance. Mr Haque wrapped up the seminar in the final minutes of the seminar.
Altogether, there were more than 140 attendees from more than 100 organizations/institutions from over 10 countries. There were lively interactive sessions where participants posed questions. It was a successful seminar in terms of both substance and participation.
